As Paul is imprisoned and near his martyrdom, he writes one of his last epistles with the purpose of encouraging Timothy as a young church leader. This passage expresses the imperative nature of abiding in and preaching the word of God faithfully in the midst of a generation of false teachers who are constantly in rebellion against the Creator and drifting away from the knowledge of the truth.
